Yellow spots on the mattress - where do they come from, how to prevent them?
Sleep is one of the most important life needs of every person. Therefore, just as we pay attention to what we eat, we should also pay special attention to what we sleep. For this purpose, let's choose only the best quality mattresses. However, for the dream to be fully comfortable and healthy, it is worth taking care of the purity of the used mattress. Unfortunately, during everyday use, the mattress can get dirty, and in time yellow spots and other dirt appear, which look ineffective and most importantly - unhygienic. Therefore, we should care about the mattress, vacuuming it and rubbing its housing. Sometimes, however, there is such a situation that daily cleaning of the mattress is not enough. What to do then? For this purpose, hotels or hospitals have special, chemical means that we do not advise you to use at home, especially since we can damage a home mattress. Below we will try to tell you where when you get so difficult to clean dirt and how to get rid of them quite easily.
Where do the yellow spots on the mattress come from?
- Sweat and oil
Natural body secretions are the most common reason for the appearance of yellow, unsightly spots on the mattress. We are talking here above all about sweat. It should be remembered that we do not have to sweat or have a hot climate in the bedroom to give off sweat and oil at night. This is a natural process that occurs in every person. The finally mentioned sweat and oil accumulate on our mattress in the form of yellow spots, which in time can also release an unpleasant smell.
- Mold
Mold appears on our mattress if we do not care properly or if we do not let it dry thoroughly after washing. If we do not leave the mattress in a vertical position, until it dries completely, we will allow it to develop bacteria and mold. Moisture promotes its formation and development. Fortunately, these kinds of mushrooms are usually not harmful to our health, but also leave yellow spots and an unpleasant smell.
- Urine
Urine is another physiological problem, which is often left on the mattress, especially the children's. It is in the youngest that there are night soothes that leave traces and discoloration. This fragrance is also the most unpleasant and begins to escape the fastest. We can also find such spots when we allow our animals to lie on a bedroom bed.
How to deal with yellow spots on the mattress?
Cleaning the mattress After yellow spots, formed for the above reasons, is not the simplest. However, there are several natural and delicate detergents that will allow us to deal with such dirt. We include primarily:
- Vinegar,
- Flour,
- Baking soda,
- Hydrogen peroxide,
- Salt,
- Dish soap.
However, how to create a mixture from the above ingredients that will overcome yellow spots? Below we have prepared for you two proven ways.
The first is a way that copes well with cleaning the mattress from urine. For this purpose, we must prepare a bowl, baking soda, hydrogen peroxide, dishwashing liquid, a bottle with a sprayer and a vacuum cleaner. All these ingredients should be mixed in a bowl, and then pour the uniform solution into a bottle with a sprayer. We spray the liquid on the stains and gently rub it into the mattress with a brush. Then leave the stain until it dries and vacuum very thoroughly to get rid of the residues (mainly from baking soda). If the stain has a very unpleasant smell, then we can add an aromatic rinsing liquid to our mixture, which has a more intense smell than dishwashing liquid.
The second way is mainly intended for sweat stains, although of course it will also work on a different type of dirt. To this end, we prepare vinegar, hydrogen peroxide and baking soda. As before, we mix all the ingredients and apply them carefully to the stain, leaving them to dry. Then vacuum the surface. As with the first method, here we can add essential oils or rinsing liquid to the mixture to get rid of the unpleasant smell thoroughly.
